Zlatan Ibrahimovic hasn’t even arrived in Manchester yet but he’s already secured himself a squad number.
According to The Sun Ibrahimovic is set to be handed the number nine shirt when he puts pen to paper.
But wait, what about Anthony Martial?
The Frenchman hasn’t been forgotten. He’ll take Memphis Depay’s number seven shirt, leaving the Dutchman in the lurch.
United’s number nine has a checkered past. The artist formerly known as Andrew Cole scored bundles of goals but Radamel Falcao didn’t do the shirt justice.
Likewise the number seven, which has graced the back of Michael Owen, Antonio Valencia, Angel Di Maria and Depay fairly unsuccessfully in the last five years.
Zlatan previously wore the number nine shirt at Juventus and Barcelona. His time at Juve ended in relegation, while he was bombed out of Barcelona after fighting with Pep Guadiola and Lionel Messi.
Let’s hope it’s third time lucky at Old Trafford.
